Welling Court Mural Project, a set on Flickr.
I love street art, especially the graffiti of my own borough of Queens. So I am so grateful that just a short walk from my apartment is the Wellington Court Mural Project; where since 2009 Ad Hoc Art of Brooklyn has brought over 90 artists to create an unparallelled collection of outdoor murals.
Ad Hoc’s description of the project:
The project transforms several city blocks into a 24/7 street-level gallery, bringing artist from around the world directly to the heart of this community. Renowned artists with deep roots in the street movement have created custom works for this project. This new array of visual experiences provides fresh contexts for how people working, visiting, and living in this diverse cultural gem of Queens think about and interact with their environment.
Since I’ve known about the project I’ve gone to visit the murals now and again to document the scene. It is truly a diamond in the rough.
